Hello all, managed to get a P6 driven welder at last, engine runs but the drive to the welding units has gone. Looks like a rubber flexible drive has come unbonded.
Cheers Chris.
thats serious gear do we take it your car failed its test and requires welding and u bought the welder before u joined the forum and then realised it was a bit large
Thanks for the replies everyone, have always wanted a P6 driven dc welder as I already have a 400amp Lincoln that is driven by a 4 cylinder Ford industrial engine but that is very noisey where as the P6 just purrs away
Photos tomorrow of the broken drive coupling.
Cheers chris.
You should be able to wind it down to 400amps to be able to use those old 6mm rods you have left over from the Bismark? Dont forget to put them in the oven though you dont want them sticking and stalling the engine!!
Hi Chris I think the part your after is a Fenner Coupling, I did a search on google which pulled up a Perkins p4 with a gen set attached to it, they named the connection as a Fenner Coupling, hope this can narrow down your search a bit bud
Thanks for help everyone, I'll get searching right away. As for the output of the welder it is two seperate 300 amp supplies or you can have it as one supply for the full 600 !
Cheers Chris.

That is not a fenner tyre coupling they are clamped by the flange on the 'bead' of the tyre it is more like a dynaflex lcd type 25 flange drive, bonded coupling.
Ok here are some pics I took today of the coupling and of a donut I found, not sure if it will do as I don't really want to alter any original parts. Going off to a motor rewind place this week to see if they have anything.
