Flux Core Welding

Hi All
I have acquired a roll of 1.2mm flux core so thought I'd give it a try

Welding 10mm plate and 6mm box at 255amp but I sometimes got the feeling I wasn't getting enough penetration even though it looked ok through the lens.

I also was getting a lot of spatter. How to you reduce that? I bought tin of spatter spray but it quickly burned off so didn't think it worked at all. Any advice

Flux core is notorious for spatter if it is self shield wire (no gas). I found pushing the puddle is a big no if you want to avoid spatter and pulling isn't much better.

Have you reversed to polarity from normal mig welding?

Nope. Think I have heard that before. Ill try that.

Don't think it is self shielding I needed gas. Was pulling.

Duel shield flux core I guess.

in that case i know very little about dual shield, used a lot of flux core self shield but not much of the stuff you have and th machine was preset anytime i did use it.

Looks like you could do with turning the volts up or slowing the wire feed down a tad
