Best glue to repair a steering wheel

Got a slight nick, in the steering wheel, of my van. I would like to put some glue on it to stop it, getting worse. It is right where the spoke is , or would put on a wrap of tape. Any suggestions on best type of glue?

I think it requires more than applying styling gel, applying to the rubbish bin is more like it. Is that the height of luxury on your side of the pond Fred?

Only in certain neighbor "hoods".....
Yes, I can see getting rid of it, as flammability could pose a problem.....

We had a small hole in the arm of our leather couch. The delivery driver did it, so a man got sent fix it. The repair is invisible, perhaps the glue they use for leather repair would do a good job
