Concrete fence post brackets

Hi all

Has anyone ever made something like these?

If so any advice on how to create a jig or form the shape using fairly basic equipment, please?

If I only needed a couple I would buy them, but I need at least 24 of them to support cordon plants along a fence, so I wanted to investigate making some instead.

You may be able to find a box section that will fit, cut them out with a thin disc and add the threaded boss. Save making a jig and folding.

Did that with my sisters house, to put cat proof fencing up. There are steel re-bars in the posts but not dead on the centreline.

use bosch multidrills they drill through concrete wood and metal so no probs

there will be one in the middle as well. At least there was when I made them 40 years ago!

With a suitable lump of metal as a spacer, you could make that with a hammer and a vice - make the two inner bends first, then the two outer.

But two for a tenner, complete with eye-bolts - by the time you've bought some stainless strip, cut it, battered it, welded in a nut, bought the eye-bolts . . .

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. My main reason for wanting to use the brackets rather than screwed in eye bolts is that I didn’t want to drill into any reinforcement, or even drill too close to it and reduce the durability of the posts.

But considering the lower cost and effort I think stainless screw in eye bolts would be my best option after all.

I've recently disc cut six H section 15 yr old posts , there were only two wires & they ran through the web

Eleven years ago I used outdoor clear silicone to stick planed to size 4 x 4 inch wooden gate hinge anchors in the H section when I took out a panel & made two bespoke wooden gated to put in place of the six foot panel so I could get access our self seeded scrub & wood land behind the fence . I must confess when I was using big G clamps to hold the anchors in place I never thought they would last this long as the gates I hung off them weigh about 25 kg each

Ah thanks, that’s interesting and possibly unfortunate. Mine are a similar age and hitting the rebar is what I was worried about.

Shame I don’t still work for one of my former employers as they had a reinforcement cover depth detector.

I’ll maybe drill an inconspicuous post and see how I get on.

I put the smallest masonry drill I had in each time, before opening up to rawlplug size. If I met something solid I’d move over and down a bit.

Here's mine. There's two of them with an angle vertically between them which have catenary cable for climbing plants. It was done like this because they are not my posts to drill but my neighbour was happy with this.

Perhaps try hanging a strong magnet on a cotton thread , hold it an inch or so away from the post where you hope to drill and watch where it is most attracted to the post to find the reinforcing .
If you find it is the middle there is no reason why you cannot drill close to the web almost on the wings then plug up .

You'd have to have some strong quality highly UV resistant filament , my 3D printed micro misting set up's angle brackets & water line holding heads as starting to fail , after only seven years of use and there is no great level of stress / strain on any of them.

Buy some flat bar and bend it around a hardwood block/post or a steel post. I'd make 24 of those in an evening.
