Being into minis I was spoilt for choice with available accessories but naturally all my mods were tasteful!
Alloys, arches, spotlights, air horns, all black bumpers etc changed for chrome. Happy days!

Lad I knew made a 1275 lookalike. I always remember him buying a complete new aftermarket dash from All Car Equipe, extra gauges on it etc. Then there were the (rivetted?) add on arches.

Of course, a chap might wear one, and the observant driver behind will see that the front chap intends to turn left or right by the direction of the cap peak.

Paddy Hopkirk accelerator pedal accessory to allow effective ‘heel and toeing’ as fitted to my MG.

Can't imagine using it though as I only fitted it to make up for the stupidly small pedal fitted as standard by BMC.

I’ve also got my doubts about their ‘reduced shoe repair bills’ claim….

There's a few chuckles over the Autoplas louvres but many in Capri circles still like them and they do sell. I think there were variants, some even allowing retention of the rear wiper function!

For a few different styles . . .

"Cut Outs", (bypass) welded in the exhaust pipes just ahead of the mufflers. Pull a lever inside the driver compartment and a butterfly diverts the exhaust to a straight pipe that lets everyone within a mile hear when your arriving.

Still available - I have a brand new set bought last year to fit to my Challenger as the OEM exhaust isn't as expressive as I've like

Motorised - which I think means they will work fine for a week or too, until the car gets used in rain and they seize up . . .

I had to nip out to my Alfa . ..

Admittedly I think my mum gave it to me when I last owned an Alfa, a 75 T/S which was the last car with a fixed parcel shelf I owned - which must be 20yrs ago. It got reinstalled when I bought this 159 a few years ago.

When I started driving wagons it was mandatory to have "Modulator" aerials with a 6' whip mounted on both mirrors, twinned and running through a stupidly high power linear amplifier.

I had one of the illegal sets in my Mk1 Transit that had a seriously hot Essex 3 litre V6 running twin twin choke Webers hooked to a Laycock overdrive transmission feeding out to a 3.4-1 final drive that came out of a Zodiac. Well over 40 marker lights, all 5W bulbs as LED's hadn't been invented which meant the bakelite rocker switch for the lights got not just warm but HOT , as well as red lights flushed into the cab headlining. Dad reckoned it looked like a cross between something from Close Encounters and a travelling knocking shop . The whole affair was finished off with chrome airhorns on the roof and chrome plated "elephant's ear" mirrors that came off a scrap Ford D Series.

And I'm now quite misty eyed .
