G Clamps...

I need to get some replacements as the Silverline Junk snapped in half (Literally)!

Any recommendations? Don't want to spend mega bucks.

Are Bessey Clamps a good idea?

We use Carver Clamps, Bessey clamps and Pfier clamps.

The cheaper ones don't last very long - they snap, or fall over sideways and end up in the scrap bin.

Considering how many years work we continue to get out of the three decent makes I have listed they have cost virtually nothing.
The cheap ones, that break within the week, therefore cost mega bucks.

Bessey are incredible, don't get the g clamp though get the fitters clamps or f clamp.

I get exactly where your coming from!

Buy cheap buy twice in my case. So now want to buy something that's actually going to last...

Alternatively look around boot sales, Sunday markets etc and look for All the big names. Some bargains can be found

I’ve got Carver and Record but the ones that get used most often are some Aldi F clamps. They are about 8 years old and have taken everything I’ve thrown at them. Probably not made of chinesium

All depends on what you will use them for. In my work I am often welding sheet to angle and F Clamps require a block of wood or whatever to build up the height so I can clamp. G Clamps are better in that situation so I have a mixture of types.
Funnily enough one of the best G Clamps I have was a freebie from my welding supplier, its only marking is India cast into it so I presume that is where it came from but it is surprisingly good, sadly he didn't know where he got it from so can't get any more.

@Ashley Burton bessey, lovely things. But the kennedy f clamps are spot on for the price and up there with bessey.

Edit: used some roebuck quick clamps at work and they are good also. I did see them somewhere for not alot of money either.

Carvers mainly and a few F clamps , sash cramps do come in useful as well on occasion.

Carvers and Piher for me.... if i've a pile of clamps on the bench, I tend to favour the pihers, because they are just a little bit easier to use.

Cromwell/Kennedy G clamps are good for the price. They sell different strength ones. The larger heavy-duty ones are, well, really heavy!

I have some Axminster ones I really like too.

I have a load of Record all bought for£1 or £2 at carboots over the years never has one fail.

I have a mixture of clamps
There are the cheap unbranded g-clamps I bought when I started fabricating, have been bent & straightened many times but still survive!
There are the various record g-clamps I pick up at auctions, easy to use but will twist or bend under pressure.
I have a few carver clamps, quite fiddly to use but nothing else can exert as much force as them & they will not bend.
I have some Lidl f-clamps which are surprisingly strong & very adaptable.
Also have a mixture of ratchet quick clamps, mostly used for woodwork but also useful for setting up a joint one handed before fitting a proper clamp.

They all have their strengths & weaknesses but if I was to pick one type of clamp it would be the f-clamp, easy to use & the most versatile.

Homebase - yeah Homebase! Have some cracking deals on clamps at present for some strange reason. Record etc less than half !
Store keeps running out locally so I just keep visiting as they re stock
