Impressed with the old Mighty midget portable welder

Used the portable welder for the first time this morning away from the shop had to move the quick hitch fixing on a JCB bucket converting to a Merlow fitting dam cold but very impressed with the welded constant power and layed well.

Keep sending the customers for outside welding to him, he will soon get sick of it it too, and then he will sell you one.

I haven't measured the leads but they are real long so I suppose that helps with the noise

A firm I used to work for "acquired" an Onan flat twin four stroke welder back in the 1980s, only ran on one cylinder. I fixed it, tried it out and it gave the best bead I have ever laid, smooth sodium yellow arc. We then got the contract to cage the spectators in, to stop pitch invasions, at PNE football club. The Onan got a lot of use on that (though not by me). A couple of months later Hillsbourough happened and they took the fences down again. I left the firm about 2004 and I don't think the Onan had ever been used again.

The leads can get shorter as the welder gets older ( cant be arsed with the extra weight) or becomes deafer.

Nice one Spencer what engine has yours got, looks like a Briggs mine has a 2 stroke JLO engine so much compression I almost have to lash it down to pull it over lol

It originally came with a 12hp kohlar petrol engine. But have a nice electric start lister engine taking it's place.
