I serviced and rebuilt a dashpot starter last year. Seemed to work ok.

You still using the dashpot starter with the L?

provided the amperage is correct for motor ok to use. i wouldnt bother using a starter on small motors unless they are left untended or likely to be overloaded

I know that on certain old wood machine forums they would buy that in a heartbeat.....even older ones

Glad it's seeing service. Probably still wouldn't have been used if I still had it.

I wouldn't use any starter that has a mechanical latch. Many old starters did. Newer starters are all no volt release so will fail safe if the power cuts for any reason. If the machine that you are using it on can't harm you if it starts on its own then it's a reasonable risk to use (things like compressors) but never on something like a circular saw bench, drill, lathe etc.

With the exception of the lack of NVR itl will be fine, I still have the exact same starter on my meddings drill.

when I picked up my current project lathe this was working fine, Wired it back up to test tonight and just getting a flash from the contactors and a rev or two from the motor before it trips. Gonna give it a good clean up and test the motor with an old dol starter I've got in the garage to rule...
