open fire users- coal doubles?

going to use our fireplace this year , looking at the merchants site it lists doubles , are doubles just traditional coal , i dont want the processed nuts

whats the rule about no sealed bags good for? they can deliver in bags but must slit them open cus goverment says so

so i could have had a stack of sealed coal that stays dry , but cutting the bag open does what to help ?

Because bagged coal was banned from Feb 2021 while loose coal is only due to be banned from Feb 2023. Hence by slitting them open it turns from bagged to loose coal.

but its the people that are at fault that lower there stoves too low so they arnt burning right and allow there chimneys to smoke like crazy
too lazy to get off there backsides and go check if truth is known

you maybe surprised on how many have smoking chimneys that have lowered the stove so low its not burning right all because they over loaded it and its now too warm in the room so lower the burn in the stove to simering the best way of creosoting there chimneys while pushing a load of dirty black smoke out there chimneys

i kinda got a full view and taste of it while in scotland

and clean the chimney daily.

Been wondering about the cost trade off of smokeless coal vs kiln dried hardwood, the cheapest I can get the wood is £115 a cubic metre.

Has anyone looked into that?

Wood I presume, can't see them using gas or lecy.

Tricky to tell untill you have burned a big proportion of the wood to gauge how much has been used.

I use it in my multi fuel stove, build up a platform of kindling with a log on the top and put the smokeless fuel around the edge, once there’s a good bed of heat smokeless is very good, gives a lot of heat and is slow burning.
Last year it was £310 per tonne, this year £535, it does reduce wood consumption a lot.

Making gas and electric so expensive we cant turn the heating on..now making it illegal to keep warm by burning coal the lowlife pigs want us all dead i am telling you because they don't have our pension pots. Well this winter i will be burning anything from a wellie to the interior of a scrap car before my wife and i go cold..enough is enough now, the daily shafting is going to stop in roofmans castle forthwith
