Pneumatic Needle Scaler

I need a needle gun. A powerful one. Used a Kobe the other day, brand new, next to useless. Had a model I borrowed from site, it was red, looked possibly like a trelawny, but didn't have any indicating marks. That was better but I feel still lacking some grunt.

Has anyone got any recommendations?

Obviously I've had a look at the Trelawny models. Has anyone got any first hand experience.

What about Ingersoll Rand? I seem to remember their gear being Far Eastern now.

That kind of linkage isn't going to give the impact rating I need

Compressor isn't an issue there's 1500 cfm onsite.

Shipyard/Industrial is definitely what I need

On the ones you used and found wanting, did you take notice of the whip hose supplying the air? I think the Trelawny site suggests 10mm bore and if someone has fitted a 5/16" or 1/4" supply hose, it will not help.

If the Kobe was the little NS4030, it is really only a light duty mini scaler.

I've not used one personally but CP do some hefty ones with a price tag to match.

Their prices are more than buying direct but yes that looks like it could be the ticket.

I still like the look of the UK ones so I may give trelawny a call tomorrow

Trelawny VL303’s are excellent, I’ve had one for ten years and bought two more for work (a rapidly rusting powerstation so lots of use!)

PS CP needle guns used to be rebadged Trelawny’s anyway, probably still are.

I've have two air needle guns. both are better than the electric Hilti needle guns I have used
The small CP, I use a lot because I mostly work on light stuff and a M7 that I bring out when I need a big hitter.
The M7 also has a chisel that is great for removing weld splatter (not that you would ever see such a thing)

standard ¼" plc connectors

That will be a big part of your trouble! Standard PCL connectors are very restrictive, to get the best from a 10mm hose you need at least the xf connectors.

Be interesting what this turns up. I bought a Cheapo import needle gun (2nd) which works so-so in preference to the shot blaster (shelved). Spent enough time in desert sandstorms without importing one Twin cylinder compressor gives barely enough air. Can't remember capacity off hand. Saying all that...it does work.

The hire ones from Sunbelt up here are either CP or IR and the guys that use them have no complaints...

1/4" pcl connectors won't supply naff all, you need claw connections IMHO, and 1/2" supply lines

Not possible. The air is already plumbed in and claw connector and air lines won't be flexible enough for the situation. ⅜" bore is what is recommended by trelawny.
