Red Diesel / biodiesel - have the exemptions just changed ?

I've not seen a thread for this but have been told the rules for red diesel changed April 1st,

The official Gov.UK website was updated last month :

Using rebated fuels in vehicles and machines (Excise Notice 75)

Find out when you can use rebated diesel, biodiesel or kerosene in vehicles and other machinery.

I can't see any confirmation that the changes went ahead as planned, and know some things get postponed at the last minute so apologies if this is something that didn't go ahead. Posting the info here just so you know about it.

Yes my sons work are no longer buying red diesel.

Strange thing is it seems that red had been rising for the past few weeks to the differential is not as much as it used to be .

It seems they are going to have to use white but get no discount...meaning more inflation.

Trying to book an eco welfare unit or one with mains hookup has become impossible

A 9 ton digger will now cost about £26 per hour to run, probably twice as much as the operator is being paid

its got to the stage people was using it in cars

Red is still allowed for domestic use. What's the problem? It is still more expensive than kero.
The whole point in fuel duties is to support our roads. Hence if it isn't being used on the road why should you pay more for it?
And electric cars don't pay any fuel duties at all - is that fair?

The extra tax won't be going on the roads, that's for sure.

It's turned a few people's businesses upside down. Think of scottish ski resorts, they are off grid, and spend a fortune on red diesel. This will eat seriously into their profit margin.

Also the few farmers/agricultural engineers. Are they suddenly going to have to own two telehandlers, one with white diesel for putting sheds up?

Yes we need to pay more tax, but it's another move by a tory government that will mostly affect non-tory voters.

It may have been at one time, now all taxes go into a big pot [the one Henry's familiar with] to be doled out as the Powers that be see fit.

red was designed for farming use as they produced crops and collected them

not roads so why should users use it on roads therefore should pay full price

why should builders use it for there diesel gear its not delivering goods or making our food by colection on farms

on heating why should homeowners use red to save money when they themselves arnt producing any benefit other than for themselves

i agree on farm use but not for train use but its been used for Rail transport

other than alot of selfish gains why should people get the benefit of red to be used

You are right there.
A chap who used to work for me got pulled at a fuel supply place. Saturday morning. HMRC did a sting there. Caught 25 people.
I reckon the owner of the fuel place dropped them in it to save his own skin. Not a nice chap.
Chap was fined £300 and told not to do it again.
It is a civil matter apparently.
And yet you can legally run your car on electric or cooking oil and not pay a penny fuel duty because it is "green"

I can't see how builders would either benefit from it, or suffer when the price of it goes up? It's just a cost which gets passed on (plus a percentage) to the customer in the same way as concrete, screws, or anything else.
