US PRO any good

I everyone ,I found myself in need of sockets and rachets
I was thinking about buying a beta set but at moment I'm not sure if I really need this level of quality.
I was looking on eBay Amazon etc
Found this brand ,tools look great for the cost .
I can buy them piece by piece
Like today 1/2" rachet + 6-32 socket set
Tomorrow a breaker bar etc
Cheaper than beta , surely not the same quality,but once in awhile might be worth.
I was reading reviews about , doesn't look too bad of a brand.

Do someone's have any experience with this brand?

No, US PRO are not good quality tools. I see stalls selling them in the boot fairs all the time, bought a set of torx/spline drive tools. They do look well made but they are pretty poor quality actually IMO I've already broken several of them with only moderate pressure.

Hobby grade only TBH.

I would be looking for quality, excellent condition used before buying US PRO. Beta, Stahlwille, Gedora, Elora, Britool, King Dick are all good. Some of the old Eastern European brands were good too, have used TONA and UNIOR myself, I'm sure there are more.

I agree. There is a strong tendency in life...and tools...to get what you pay for. The relatively rare exceptions are like a gift.

BTW, I've never heard of "US PRO" sockets until I looked just now. I saw some listed online that were shipping from the UK. Anyone know the country of manufacture?

US PRO, AM Tech, Nielsen etc etc are all pretty down the low end, they may be all the same manufacturer as far as I know..

It's a bit of a mixed bad, somethings that are not really critical can be ok, but had some US PRO impact hex sockets which were made of cheese, but some punches were ok..

I wouldn't say they look that good once you get them in your hands either

I have tried US Pro but when used in anger they fail as if they were made of cheese. Extended Allen key sockets with a standard 3/8” ratchet, set of 9 I think. The 3 I used all broke. Utterly horrid excuses for tools.

For good stuff look at who owns which brands. I did post something about this previously, but as an example, Bahco are owned by Snap On but a lot less expensive.

Rather than buying sets it’s way cheaper to buy singles secondhand. I’ve scored plenty of bargains like that. Sets will always have stuff that never gets used too, e.g. 16mm and 18mm sockets/spanners were never used until recently. Was all 17 or 19, which can easily be serviced with 11/16ths and 3/4” AF stuff.

They are chinese, same as everything else, but generally I have not had any problems with their stuff or any other chinese, provided its Cr-V steel.

Avoid any import carbon steel tools as that is shiet, but still sold under many brands.

i have a set of there 3/8 drive sockets up to 22 mm i use them all the time even though i have a set of half inch drive snapon ones i got given along with a set of britool ones. i have quality spanners as well but mainly use the halfords professional ones i have

I buy some US Pro, Neilsen, etc. tools for the "once in a blue moon" type job as I can't justify the outlay for quality brands, but wouldn't recommend them for daily use tools such as sockets & spanners.

These hose pliers might get used a couple of times a year.

I rate US pro pretty highly for thre cost - really highly for the cost tbh

you have to be careful because there is a lot of counterfeit stuff out there


I have some really good stuff, but prefer to use us-pro when I can because I don't care if I lose a us-pro socket, bray one onto a rusty nut etc. etc.

I've hammered their impact sockets on stock nuts/bolts with a big Milwaukie impact gun and havn't broken one yet


I've killed a couple of (non impact) torx bits but I put that down to the bolt being too tight not a fault of the tool, it's at the point where a better one won't get it out either

I restore Mercedes cars as a hobby. I have more tools gathered up than most garages at this stage!

Sealey premier is great (black series I like most)
Facom very good but spendy
Draper Expert great price great tools have had socket sets now 20 years and never broke one
US Pro and Laser etc are good too never had any issue quality wise and put the stuff to hard work too.

Halfords pro/advanced or bahco are my go to ... never had an issue with either other than people borrowing and not returning

Halfords Pro and and Facom are my workshop tools, but in the car / van I'm happy with Lidl / Parkside, if they get stolen, I won't cry.

It's nice to use good quality tools, but at the end of the day just about any 10 or 13mm spanner will do.

A 6 point socket over a 12 point is my preferred.
