I emailed screwfix to tell them they had probably lost me as a customer to toolstation due to them not doing a catalogue anymore.They didn't seem bothered apparently thats how people are shopping these days. I often need to find something that will do a job other that what it was intended for, not easy to find such items on a website.

No, but making one which simply includes the, usually several, words entered is no hard thing.

Same with CPC, RS, and Farnell, the books were great, I appreciate the tech info once you have found the product though, emphasis on found.
@MoreWellie they could say ask for the book rather than just send it out, Much easier to flick through catalogue than turn pdf pages looking for something you dont know what heading they come under

Then you get ones that use capitals and any spelling problem is a fail.

Pray tell then, my wife is setting up her website, and it’s not obvious to her and I’ve no idea, do you have a simple or not so simple way to how to do this!
It's not a matter of Toolstation, CPC, Farnell, RS Components websites not being able to compete with Google. They just don't produce meaningful results to very basic searches any more. Surely it's not too difficult to implement a half decent search on a website. Amazon isn't much better, nor B&W, nor Homebase nor...the list goes on. Try searching on Amazon for Honda EU2200i generator.

as quoted above its rather easy to allow google to scrape a website or allow google to scan your website but also do it with the other websearch engines as well
you can get higher up the lists but they want paying for this processs

as i knew someone else who had an account i went that way so didnt have to create a google account
with the rest there was no need to create an account with them just add them to your website and that was it
