Mine are mostly Teng they're a similar price to the Milwaukee individually, but when I bought them most of the lads at the place I was working bought 10 to 20 pairs each and the chap that used do the purchasing got them for about 12 quid a pair.
I've yet to find a vice grip type clamp that works as well as genuine vice grips or mole grips.

Vice grips is a trade mark brand, brought out by Irwin, who also purchased Record.
I should stop reading threads on here. I saw your original post and link... and of course ended up buying a pair

Vice grips where originally made by the Petersen manufacturing company.
In my opinion when Irwin bought the company quality went down, hence I have only bought old ones
When I sold tools for a living in the 80's I must have sold thousands of pairs and never had one complaint
Looks like production went to China in 2008

Sadly so true, from the little I know it killed the local town, now made in China for a few quid less, same happened with Beach Tool boxes.
I feel so many things are corporate greed, if we shut this and make it elsewhere we will make more money never content with profits, often the only way to make it cheaper is at the expense of quality and safety.

Malco started making eagle grips in the original Dewitt vice grip factory. They are meant to be very good (the best) but unfortunately the price at about $50 USD made it not a viable business so they closed down after one year.
As much as I don't like it the irwin grips are not bad and are better than anything else I have tried other than the originals

Absolutely agree. I see there's Chinese knock offs now too, anyone tried them.
I first saw these when assisting a welder fabricator on a steel framed building. He said he wouldn't use anything else and would trust them with his life. Which he actually did, when he clamped them to the edge of an RSJ, well column really, then climbed up the building using them as steps!
I bought mine shortly after. I won't be using them as steps though!

Like hoover became the general name for vacuum cleaners, vice grips has become the general name for locking pliers.
