i used to make a lot of stainless steel parts for my old norton so was handy to clean them up after making ready for polishing i used to go to college evening class machine shop practice and saw them in welding shop . so i got them measured up and copied the 1st one 8 inch channel was all cut by hand hacksaw the tensioners were all chaindrilled and filed by hand the second one was done on milling machine ps if i could have got one for 50 quid i wouldnt have bothered can anyone spot the bodge on the disk sander???Nice, I was going to build one myself until I found a SIP 6" one on eblag a few weeks ago. Almost brand new, picked it up for 50quid. So that idea went straight out the window.
What use did you build them for
can anyone spot the bodge on the disk sander???

Red tape on the motor power lead...
Did you make the wheels for the belt as well ? I think that's the only thing stopping me from making a better grinder for myself, I use an Aldi one with a belt one side and a stone the other and I use a Clarke 6" bench grinder for sharpening. One like these would be my goal.
nice one ive sknned my knuckles a few times on the 6inch one with coarse belt i wear gloves now when i use itGot to say you can beat a good belt grinder, we have a nice fat 4hp powered belt sand 75mm wide belt 2000mm long, havent got a pic of it but one slip and fingers gone
i got them measured up and copied the 1st one
err no craut i think.:the master race : ve haff vaysBrightspark, have you got Chinese ancestry?.
most of the motors are quarter hp of the old washing machines . its ok on the 4inch sander but the 6inch needs about a half hp or bigger.1/4 hp isnt worth more than 25 quid unless your desperateWhat motors do you use? I'm struggling to find anything, people who have old washing machines want 30-50 pound for the motors!
