It is so cold in my business unit lately that I decided to build a Wood Stove
Here is my interpretation of the 'recycled' Gas Cylinder Stove
This will be used solely for burning wood, so I did'nt bother fitting a grate or a lower Ash door.
I will put a couple of inches of sand in the bottom beforehand to prevent the heat burning thru' the bottom
There is a removable baffle plate fitted into the top of the stove to prevent the fire going straight up the chimney (you can see it on the bench)
The door has the usual Pyrex (casserole) Dish mounted in the door so I can watch the flames
The pyrex lid is sealed around the edge using fire rope.
There are two dampers fitted, one in the left side, and another above the door.
These use a 1/2" bolt so I can screw the damper in and out to fine-tune the fire
The Hob on top of the stove is 1/4" plate and is welded to a steel ring with 4 x 1" pegs welded in each corner to help the heat to warm the hob.
The chimmey / Flue is 114mm (4 1/2") Diameter.
Tomorrow it will be having its maiden burn-off (outside!)
Once I get the old paint burnt off, I will be fitting it into place on Saturday and finally giving it a coat of Black Stove paint
I was very lucky in sourcing the pipe and plate steel etc for free
Total cost to build the Stove to date is £4.70
That was for the gate catch and hinges.
More pictures to follow when I get it installed and painted.....
