Ring roller

Hi all a couple of people where asking about the ring roller I made so here are the pics and a rough set of plans, feel free to copy no probs at all any questions just ask no probs, No dimensions I'm afraid as I didn't really work to any set dimensions I just new what I wanted it to do and well.... made it!

NIce one .how did you make the large handwheel????** (chicken and the egg sort of thing)did you use the three wheel spokes to operate it.

Wyn: definately a chicken and egg moment!, yes thats exactly how I made it, 16mm round bar no probs! looks good eh?

Crayefish: wondered wot you where on about for a min there, I finished that about 3 months ago and in all that time I never even noticed the mercedes badge DOH!!!

Ramsey: I got the blanks for the rollers from my local steel stock supplier and then went to see a small engineering firm locally with the dimensions that I wanted and they turned all 3 and bored the holes for the spindles for £20 I'll be going back with them soon to have grooves for flat bar and roung bar machined into them now I know it all works, without them the workpiece tends to "wander" as you feed it through the rollers and you have to keep repositioning the workpiece as you go.

i can get 50mm spindles with a m20 thread through them from work they look perfect but i think 50mm is to small petty there were not 100 mm

it depends what your gonna roll I guess? should imagine that would do most flat bars say upto 40x8 and solids upto maybe 12 - 16mm anything heavier and you might struggle though, I've still had no need to roll anything heavier than 1" box with mine I just don't have the need to at the mo but only wanted to build this once and so built it with some in reserve just in case I need it.

By chance can you tell me your dimension off your upper and lower carriage? I am about to start building your design. I like it and I have a old bottle jack pipe bender that believe will get me most the parts
