Vertical mma questions

Hello again everyone. tonight ive spent a hour trying to weld vertical ive a few questions.
do you put the rod in horizontal. also amperage seems crucial. ive tried the
triangle method stopping in each corner. im under the impression that the line
across the bottom of your triangle once set you go up stop down stop then come
accross the bottom again slightly higher resting this weld on the previous one
i can also see why you would shampher a tube helping to keep in the weld at the sides l only having to concentrate on the bottom. i did manage to get a ok weld
improving the shorter the rod due to better position any help very welcome

This weld here was done with a 2.5 at about 80 amps, with a conventional side to side weave, hover at the sides and flick across the face, electrode was about horizontal, although you can go above or below by a few degrees see what you feel comfortable with, below horizontal will give a better view of the pool, note the "spine" effect on the slag, thats a fairly good indicator of thing being about right, for a root you may want to slope above horizontal and weld up with no weave,
Christmas tree, or triangle weaving takes a bit of practice, I'd master this first

My favourite would-be the U weave and stop at the top of the U I never really Master the triangle too much movement my liking but root first the way Paul described

all rods behave differently BUT i always go around the U shape with vodex tho i do it as more of a square shaped U and only go up the sides a little bit. with anything else i go in a U shape and go quite a bit up the sides.
My advice is concentrate on the pool get a thin weld across horizontaly then whip up the sides back down and let the pool build up, then work it across the other way and carry on. its ok using a method of timing BUT only if all the parameters are remaining the same. 90% of the time they arent

Here is a couple of pictures to give you an idea I done thees while messing around with the lorch trying to get used of the settings as it runs a lot hotter than my transformer all you can do is practised till you find what works for you

There not the best in the world but as they say around here they would do most farmers :whistle:
