This is a bit of a broad question, couldnt really decide which place to put it in, hope its ok here.
I took an amble over the moors in the Volvo to York this afternoon to pick up my STEL inverter, won on ebay for £121. Here is a pic of it.
and in closeup
STEL 130 specs
Once id got it home to eyeball properly, i noticed that the torch (A Weldmate WP.17V) was one of those types which for the gas has just a tube coming out which has to somehow be affixed to a gas source.
My other torch (WP 26F) from the Sterling 300 HF unit that i have has these components at the end.
They mate with the fittings on the front of the sterling as shown here.
Rear view
Anyway. My questions are this. firstly in what fashion do i connect the TIG torch i got with the STEL to a gas fitting ? Secondly, although i obviously could not use the torch i have with the Sterling with the STEL, and probably wouldnt want to as it is not a valved torch like the one i got with the STEL.
Would it still be ok to plug the STEL into the Steling and have a HF TIG instead of scratch start ?
Anyone who sees any obvious cockups here or even anyone with any bright ideas for my set up, please chime in anytime.
cheers
