Steel liner for SIP Migmate

Is there a universal steel liner available to replace the plastic one. Having the usual trouble, read the article which mentions replacing with steel. What make and where can I get one from.

Looked at weld uk. The steel liner is for SIP welders which already have a steel liner. Mine is about 5 years old so I don't think that one would fit

The steel liners will replace the plastic liners, and sizes are standardised. So any that you buy that is aimed aimed at welders with the same torch length should work.

I have a similiar welder comparable to a sip and WeldUK.com recommended their item # 865-mig wire steel liner 4 metre long.My welder came with a plastic liner also so I upgraded to a steel liner,no comparison as to wire feeding much smoother

They sell universal steel liners ideal for upgrading SIP's in most hardware stores - I got mine from morissons - it made a huge difference over the plastic one -
Yep - curtain wire!! Fits in the end fittings a treat, cut to length and costs 50p. If you can get proper stuff get that but if you're finding it difficult the stuff is a good upgrade.. I used it for a year on various tasks before finding a replacement machine.
There's probably a very good reason not to do this, but no-one told me and it worked fine..

I agree. I use exactly the same curtain wire. I can't think of any reason to pay more than 50p to move your MIG wire from point A to point B.

I was Posh and got mine from Dunelm but it cost me 99p

who needs to spend £4-£5 on a liner!

Yeah! It works! The whole welder cost me £30, I spent £20 on the usual 'sip' mod bits (all the bits the factory forgot to put in, transformers etc..), and it worked! I suppose if you've got a £1000 welder you might notice the difference..
It's cheaper than a euro torch conversion too! ;-)
I did jump at the chance to get a decent welder when the opportunity arose - It's soooo much easier to use, but the Sip got me started and to be honest, if you can get a decent weld out of them you'll be able to use pretty much anything that comes your way..
