They sell universal steel liners ideal for upgrading SIP's in most hardware stores - I got mine from morissons - it made a huge difference over the plastic one - Yep - curtain wire!! Fits in the end fittings a treat, cut to length and costs 50p.

Yep - curtain wire!! Fits in the end fittings a treat, cut to length and costs 50p. If you can get proper stuff get that but if you're finding it difficult the stuff is a good upgrade.. I used it for a year on various tasks before finding a replacement machine.
There's probably a very good reason not to do this, but no-one told me and it worked fine..
I agree. I use exactly the same curtain wire. I can't think of any reason to pay more than 50p to move your MIG wire from point A to point B.
