difference's between Devilbiss Finishline Vizi-60 and devilbiss MPV-623 airfed masks?

I know there's a big price difference and the finishline does'nt seem to have a carbon filter-any other differences??

Hi there,

My personal view, go for the MPV-623, I bought one a few weeks back to replace an old mask I had. Boy I am so pleased with it, top marks, it's a great mask.

I think the other differences could well be build quality, but not having seen the vizi 60 I couldn't tell you.

If you do get the MPV-623, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Forgot to mention, with the MPV you get an outlet and hose for running your gun from, not sure if the other one does that

Why for safety go for the MPV-630 over the vizi, as I have recently got the vizi one mainly because of the "2k lesson learnt thread" now you say that is not safe either.

I didn't say that at all, all I meant was that the MPV has a carbon filter. The vizi will keep the isocyanates out, but you can also get nasty smells etc from the compressor.

The key is if you're going to be doing a lot of spraying go for the best you can buy, this doesn't mean the lower end of the market is bad. In real terms i would have liked to buy a water/oil air seperator, but frankly i don't spray enough to justify the huge cost of such equipment.

The vizi will protect you, but add carbon filter is even better, then add a a proper filter/water/oil air seperator and you're adding even more bucks.

Just to CONFIRM: I DID NOT SAY THE VIZI IS NOT SAFE

AND just as an aside, I have had the misfortune of suffering occupational asthma, so frankly safety is paramount in my view, also my view is you can't spend too much on good quality breathing equipment.
ALSO you can't go overboard on protecting your neighbours, and family from breathing this very nasty stuff in, so hope you've got good extraction and filtered too.

I too suffer from asthma, but what you said in the first line of your post made me think that I hadn't got myself a good enough, and safe product, but what I do have is enough filter separators from 25 micron to 5 then a coalescing and finally the carbon before the airline, and have filtered extraction even though I'm in the middle of a field

thanks for the replies-I bought the mpv off ebay but it was described as new and now I've received it the regulator looks well used plus the 2 carbon filters are nearly 4 years out of date!

I did'nt think much of the build quality though,just a thin plastic mask.

I'm returning this one as there are couple of other "new" ones on ebay-will have to ask lot's of detailed question before I bid though.

The trouble is that there is no proper info out there as yet on the Vizi only on the MPV, so I gave DeVilbiss a ring and asked, the difference I was told is as Dan says no carbon filter on the Vizi. I was thinking along the lines of getting one of these

With the Vizi, which would mean no carbon filter needed in the mask, and for a similar price for just the MPV. But as it happens I got hold of some Parker ones to do the job as well as giving you cleaner air going through your gun, but boy do you need more compressor duty to keep up.

yeah very nice bit of kit, that's what i'd like. with this 2k stuff you really can't compromise on safety. the added bonus with that setup is not having to cart a carbon filter around on your waistbelt!!!! it can get in the way sometimes.
eill, from what you've said you have a pretty good setup already???

Personally I wouldn't buy second hand, even if they do claim it's "as new" the carbon filter only has a 1000 life span and as you've already found out they go out of date too.

I'd go to spraygunsdirect and buy a new one, yeah it's more money, but don't risk your health for a few quid saved.

I can't afford a new one at the moment just spent nearly 600 quid on paint,spray gun,makita cordless tools,abrasives etc and I still need a mask and an air dryer.

I think I'll buy a mask off ebay and mabye buy a new filter(45 quid).

Do you mean a filter for the MPV or a wall mounted type, as you need a coalescing filter before the mask, and your quite right getting set up swallows the cash for sure. Safety issues aside, Looking at the Vizi air fed there isn't much you get for over a hundred quid really they are making a pretty profit on them that is for sure.

I meant the carbon filter for the mpv.Do I need coalescing filters as well?
I thought you either need one or the other? like everything that these huge compaines sell, gods know what their percentage is on these things 50%? 100%? 400%? 800%? mabye more

eil's right, a lot of people ask why their simple paint job costs so much money, but fail to realise that getting the right set up for the paintshop costs big bucks.
You should have every conceivable filter system to be sure you don't suffer. if you can't afford it, wait until you can, or do the job with rattle cans!! sounds harsh I know, but you gotta protect yourself.

Another very simple thing people don't realise, make sure your compressor is well away from the paint area, otherwise you might as well not have a mask at all if the comp is sucking paint fumes in.

they have coalescing filters on ebay for around 25 quid plus you can get a regulator with a 5 micron filter for 15 quid and the mpv23 has it's own carbon filter so it's not that expensive. I thought I had to spend another 150 quid on a filter bank for breathing glad I don't.

got a 50 metre airline linked to 2 compressors in a shed.

here's the coalescing filter

here's the cheap reg with a 5 micron filter

it's 8mm with 1/4 fittings.
