A little project i've just started is a tank for holding foam marker that is used to mark where you've been with a tractor, when spreading fertiliser on short grass.
There was a bought system that has been hanging around unused for about ten years. So we tried to find somewhere to stick it on the tractor and found nowhere easy to put it. It wont quite go on the front as the tractor loader will hit it, when it is used to shift the bags of fertilizer around.
So it was decided to make a tank to fit on the weight tray that the loader won't hit.
Here's a couple of pics of the start of the project.....
This is the old system where a 12v diaphragm pump blows air into the bottom of the drum which is full of water and foam concentrate. the foam is then forced out of the larger fitting into a pipe and onto the ground.
If the pump was moved to the side the drum it is still too big to let the loader clear it.
The smaller (pressure) hose in the front attaches to the smaller alluminium pipe sticking out of the drum. The larger (foam) hose in the background attaches to the larger alluminium pipe.
The pump was a bit corroded so cleaned it up but it would only run intermitantly.
Two afternoons of messing about with it later, it turns out the scalextric 12v transformer i was using for power was the problem and it would run continuously off a battery.
These 12mm plates will be the outer sides of the tank and will sit on the weight tray. They are still a bit rough and will probably have rounded corners.
I attempted to fold the rest of the tank in my old homemade folder but it wouldn't handle the 3mm sheet. I will have to cut and weld it all instead.
The 3mm is what i have available and should stand up to the inevitable beating it will get.
More pics etc to follow as i make it.
