I thought i`d post this up as in progress as i`ve seen several threads about ring rollers where people have asked for plans. Whilst i`m not following any, if I post the actual build then it might make it easier for others.
I chose Beetlejac`s design to copy, but with variations, some/many of which are purely asthetic.
The jack im using is a screw type one from my old Hilux mk2, with a cobbled together new handle.
Cutting list: (apologies for imperial and metric measurements mix)
2 off 20" 100x10mm flat
2 off 5" 100x10mm flat
4 off 7.5" 100x10mm flat
2 off 10" 60x10mm flat
Rollers will be turned from nylon (or similar) with 20mm shafts. Top (drive) roller has 4 bolt square flange bearings ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220457213212&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT ) whilst the bottom two rollers will have the bearings pressed into the rollers.
All the holes currently visable are just pilots to make life easier, need to get a few bits and pieces before I can continue further.
As usual, thanks to Grandad (silversurfer) for nudging me on with it, it`s the first project since my hip replacement back at the end of Jan and i`m absolutely buzzing. I only spent yesterday evening doing what i`ve done, the previous 2 days I spent bench pressing a sodding great Hollinger gearbox into a drag car. It all just makes me realise i`ve found my true calling with what i`m doing.
Anyway, enough of the sob story, pictures......
