Hi all,
First of all I must congratulate you all on what a good thing you have got going here.
At work yesterday someone asked me to do a little homework job, to weld up a couple of lugs on a stainless steel battery box (trike project) I think. The stainless was about 1.6mm thick and the lugs were the same. But boy did I struggle, first I was blowing holes everywhere then when I turned down the amps the weld bead was high and just didn't look nice, if you know what I mean. It was going to be on show so I wanted it to look half tidy.
The tig welder I was using was a Murex Transtig AC/DC 252 big industrial jobby using pureshield argon. I use this machine quite a lot to do aluminium and mild, normally with quite good results. I have never been trained as a welder so I was wondering whether there was something I was missing with this sheet stainless thingy, I normally do heavier work than this,
Oh i forgot to mention the warping and the twisting like you wouldn't believe, I felt embarrassed giving it back to the bloke.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Many Thanks
