heres the van i am trying to restore.. brace yourself its in a bad way..
bit of history first.. been after a bedford HA van for a long time now since my first one was "borrowed" by a gluey to get home one night and after a chase with her majesties bumbles and a rainy roundabout it was alas no more..
So I put the word out to a few friends to keep eyes open and about 9 months later long after id given it any more thought a mate pops up on msn saying he had found me a Ha and even better it was a proper Martin Walter converted one (dormobile).
It was being advertised for free on a classic car forum and had been for over a year (I figured it would have been long gone) so I dropped Dave the owner an email to see if it was still about, when he told me it was I should have realised how bad it must have been and ran for the hills there and then.
It used to be his dads but sadly his dad had passed away and he couldnt bring himself to scrap it as his dad had enjoyed it (and done anything he could to get it through MOT judging by what ive found so far), it had been sat since 2000 in an open yard with no protection from the elements and with a leaking roof.. ok you get the picture, van which is made of tinfoil thick metal when new, left in the rain for 10 years.. now are you ready for some pics???
looking up from the ground on passenger side to glove box (yes from ground )
multilayered chassis rail (remants of 2 old ones inside)
drivers side chassis rail
where it should have been
"im sure its all fine under there and its just rivetted there for show"
passenger side from inside
drivers side from underneath
two full jacking points salvaged from a car being chopped up for a trailer
where do you start....
front rails also fubar
but have got a set of these also from the trailer car and they are mint
