Those of us who've tried to use a suction blast gun will know how tricky it can be to get the grit feed right, push the pipe too far into the bucket of grit and it clogs, not far enough and the surface of the grit drops below the bottom of the pickup pipe.
This device was knocked up out of some Dexion offcuts, a bit of stench pipe, some bits of overflow pipe and a Linbin.
The stench pipe is filled with grit and there is a cutout at the bottom so the grit will fill the LinBin upto the top of the cutout and then stop.
The short piece of overflow pipe holds the pickup tube, which is fitted with a stop, just below the surface of the grit. The longer bit of white pipe holds the pickup tube out of the grit so the blast gun can be used as a blowgun.
The overflow pipes are fixed to the stench pipe using solvent cement and the pipes are fastened to the frame with cableties. A cabletie is used as the stop on the pickup tube.
