So I finally found a good use for trying out HTS 2000, I have this home made vacuum tank which I 'inherited' from a colleague years ago, works well except for the pipe join from the tank to the pump. It was always a bodge and over the years has got more and more so. I replaced what was there (whatever it was had failed) with some plastic water pipe affair and rubber gaskets which was fine for a while but over time leaks kept recurring and bodge followed bodge - added more mastic, more tape, another jubilee clip, more mastic etc as even the tiniest micro hole is enough to prevent the tank getting to full vacuum and the least disturbance of the join was liable to cause another miniscule leak. What a mess!..
and the view inside the tank..
I noticed the aluminium block that the pipe went through actually had threaded bolt holes and had been meaning for ages to make up something more permanent to attach the hose to. So at last...I took the plunge and stripped it down;-
Cleaned up the face and took some measurements;-
Rummaged through my junk and found a suitable piece of ally pipe and a useful piece of bar;-
Marked and drilled the holes;-
Cut the bar to length;-
Parts ready for assembly;-
Continued in next post! (run out of photo space).....
