grinding polishing head

i picked up a head from the autojumble 5 quid. one of the cup washers was missing the other end had just the driving pulley. i made the cup washer out of some old plate cut out with a hole saw in the lathe running on a slow speed faced it up and bored it out . the other end i bored the pulley out to take an adaptor chuck out of an sds electric drill just have to fix the motor belt and base next

Grand job done, hope to see the completed machine when your finished.
Shaft, housing and bearing kit like that used to be for sale in the Exchange and Mart for making up circular saws.

Picador was definitely one manufacturer of those. They crop up occasionally on Ebay too.

They sell such shafts at my local B&Q equivalent. But at a price that makes the Picador ones look a bargin. Come to think about it, I have a Picador one in an ally cut off machine. Given to me by a mate, he must have had it for 20yrs.

the one in the picture is a victoria no 1 made of cast iron with ball race bearings, i think the picador ones were made of ally with plain bearings and a die cast pulley fitted
