skips/bins that need attention

hello every one,
today i started on my fathers old skips that have been out on loan for scrap waste ect. ground them out today and will hope fully get them back in to shape
my welding weapon of choice is a thermal arc 175te stick/tig unit ill hopefully get some photos up later today. be warned ive not welded stick in a very long time so dont expect to many decent welds :-D hopefully parctice makes perfect. all i need is the electrode holder and i can begin the work.

hopefully i will get more practice i wish it was mig or tig but hey any practice is practice and im not too bad at it i think ive seen worse first attempts hope you guys like feel free to add you comments or advice all is welcome.

Not all useful welds are pretty. If it does the job for ya, good weld. Of course this is from someone who has never laid down a pretty weld...

thats why i like mig dont matter what postion you are in you can get a pretty weld thats strong but hey its doing its job i used a ratchet strap and a slew bucket to push that back so i know it is holding and it got hit lots with a sledge hammer and lump hammer :-D i say success :-D

it was mate. first attempt im not to proud of the pretty ness of it but not much i can do. gunna be doing vertical tomorrow should be fun any one got any tips. kind regardes perry (you guys are all awsome with your help comments and guidence i need ) thanks again guys

up hand would be far better, down hand is little more than a "wash" although in the right hands it can be done, however even in the field of welding it is/was a skill that was done by a few.

Up hand will look less tidy especially as a beginner but you will have decent penetration and fusion.

im strugling with over head it just rolls off i can weld with either left or right. does any one have any tips for over head ???

keep the rod about 45 degrees and dont be scared to hold the rod with your other hand and help guide it. Again keep a fairly tight arc and i find it helps to weave overheads as it helps to disperse heat and quite easy to flick slag inclusion out whilst welding. Wear a welders jacket and cap cos your gonna get burnt
