Hi guys, name's anth, I run a blog called Build Threads and I'm a die-hard car nut. I've always loved watching/looking at welding and fabrication, so I thought it was about time I dove in and started having a go myself.
I recently picked up a Uni Mig 180 gas/gasless mig so I can do more projects on my car, a 1969 Datsun 1600. I have a bottle of BOC Argoshield Light, and .08mm wire. At the moment I'm making a new upper and lower alternator mount, as I am moving it back to use a different "V" on the crank pulley/harmonic balancer.
Some of my practice welds...
My car:
At the moment I'm having trouble replicating my practice welds from a flat sheet of material (5mm steel) to a T-joint using the same material. Gotta practice more!
Here is the part I'm making...
That's my second go at it, I welded it last night and fluffed it up, so I'll need to make it a 3rd time I need to weld along both sides of the two vertical tabs, and then probably add a gusset between them for strength.
Anyhoo, this site is fantastic, both the forum and the main home page, it's been such a big help to me so far.
