hi lads,i thought i,d just have a go at a thread,i noticed a lot of interest in pipeline welding,i can,t offer anything there, but i may be able to give some insight into pipework in general,at least what i come across.
flat on pipes tends to be flanges so i suppose fillet welds, these particular flanges were welded with 3.25 6013 rods, about 120 amps.its not normal to fill out with one run these are only hot water pipes.the idea is pause in at the pipe and a quick wash over to the edge of the flange and back etc f/j

Yes here in the USA it seems the go to rods are 6010 and 7018 unless specifically specified. Seems as the general consensus in the Internet world of welding, that 7018 is over used, and greatly misused! People seem to grab 7018 for every little chore, but don’t take the time or expense for proper storage.
