Manual for Elektra Beckum mig

Does anyone have a link for a manual for an Elektra-Beckum 160/60.I've looked on the manafacturers site (been took over by Metabo) but no luck,they list a 160/60 but it isnt the same one as mine,I think its a later one than mine.Maybe theres one for a rebadged version ?

If I were you yes. They are old stuff & weren't particularly good (despite being German made). The fact the company may still be going won't guarantee availability of spare parts...they are circa late 80's early 90's & even the very best, leading welding machine companies only usually guarantee spares availability for 10 years maximum.

I did search for your comments on the brand but only found the 'poor' guy looking for the manual.
Hey Ho, I'll keep looking.
Just missed a Rand 150, local too just down the road.
He had a Buy it Now (at my favourite store on the net) of 170 and the final price came out at 272.

I've seen good reports on here about them but some people are paying too much for what are untested and second hand kit.

Just missed a Rand 150, local too just down the road.

That machine was advertised "New", visibly very used (at least to me) ... they haven't been sold new for well over 6 years! :whistle:

Oh, the joy's of eBay eh....a sucker born every minute!
Just have done with it!, put your hand in your pocket & buy a new set with full back-up & no bull-sh1t!

I found one, I hadn't bought it or bid, not before getting the OK from here :whistle:

Thing is now if I was offered one for free, I'd have to come here and check if it was ok :laughing:

The portamig is very tempting but I'd maybe look for a Clarke 160 or similar. Then again good solid gear can be found second hand, I'm patient and will get something without bursting the bank. If I like it and find I can do it well enough I'll be along soon enough.

Weldequip is right, sometimes you buy something on Ebay, it often fetches more than it should in price. Its very often not as described. You end up paying £150 for a machine that is £220 brand new. The machine needs service parts which end up costing £40. You have bought yourself a machine that is not much cheaper than new, has no guarantee. If it breaks down it could cost more than its worth to repair. If you had bought new in the first place you would had a machine that worked right out of the box, with a full years guarantee, with no hassle.
