I have modified a Salisbury axle to fit to my SWB Land Rover but due to the design differences the guard off my old rover axle won't fit this one. The best commercially available one I could find in this country was about £45. Excellent guards or strong diff pans can be had in the US because the Dana 60 axle is the same and plenty of people need guards for rockcrawling in Jeeps, however with postage they still cost quite a bit. So I made this one, I have never bent steel before like this so it was a bit of a learning experience, in the end I did it cold using a bit of old rail track and hammer! Just put it over the track on it's side and hit it over the gap. That bit of rail is used as an anvil and former (curved upper surface) and is invaluable, it has gained a new use now.
