I found this site bvy accident and am really impressed with the content - Well Done!!

I am a Service Engineer for Ferm and Wolf Power Tools and do a lot of work on the Arc and Mig Welders.

Although I tinker around with them in the Workshop but am not a particularly great Welder, therefore I have enrolled mysself on a course at the local college.

I have a Ferm 150 Turbo Mig Welder that I have pretty much rebuilt after an accident with the courier!!

I hope to be able to contribute with some technical assistance and in the future some other help but in the mean time I will probably be asking all you guys for information!

Welcome to the forum Matt.

The college course sounds like a great idea. Is it just MIG or do you get to play around with different welders? If you get to play with a TIG let me know how you find it. I've decided if I finish a bit of work this week then I'll put the money towards an AC TIG.

I'd be interested in what tips you find useful from the course.

The Course Involves Mig and Gas Welding as well as fabrication and Cas Gutting Etc

Yesterday was my first night at college which was particularly un usefull as it was just the formal bit of what to do and what not to do, here are the toilets etc. Back again tonight so hopefully it will be a bit more hands on!

I dont know why they bother teaching gas welding anymore! I havnt seen anyone use it since leaving college. Brazing maybe usefull though.

Hi Matt, just wondering as i'm from nottingham myself....... Which collage are you learning at mate or are you out in the district?
Im looking for a night course myself but cant seem to find what i'm looking for and i need help, I'm from the Broxtowe area if anyone could reaserch this for me, cheers

There are 3 lads on the course who are from the West Bridgeford eend of town.

They have said there are plenty of courses available near to them but the course at West Notts (Mansfield) is the best around. As far as I know there are still places available
