the bug!!!!

bought this a few years ago and had some work done from a friend where i used to work, (heater channels replaced and front wheel well were done) but i thought i would give the rest a shot and bought my 1st mig welder to give welding a shot and see how its done, so went and bought a kennedy 220 turbo mig

(still need a gas bottle and a mask!! any recommendations or any on the availability side??) :whistle:

still need to do rear vallance,
complete floor pans (hate seeing patched floor pans)

inner rear suspension mounts
and im sure ill find some other bits when i get stuck into it...........

but feel free to give me any hints, tips, reccomendations, do's and dont's, and all that pops in your head :whistle:

BTW, i hate the colour :rolleyes:

Just found your pics after my last post, good project there do you know its a 1200 model but its not a 1200 engine its either a 13 or 1600cc twin port, the only way of identifing it is the carb but having said that all the bits fitted the only 100% way is measure the bores when youv'e got it in bits.

when i got the car off an old lady who had the car for years. she said the 1200 packed in, so she wanted something with a little poke about it and got the 1600 fitted (and she never even told the DVLA) :whistle:

but all is legit now, lol...

her old man was a MOT garage owner and im shocked at how it passed, had to get the front beam replaced as there was more holes in it than a tea bag, and i found all sorts in the old heating channels, mouse nest, coke can, fibre glass, and plenty off metal patches (no wonder i wasnt getting any heat throo the channels :whistle:

Cant beat an old vw to get ya welding skills upto speed. Ive had loads of beetles over the years. The 1200 model was the best in my opinion. good luck

lol... yeh,not sure what colour tho, but i picked up a new set off 2 tone black and blue leather recliner bucket seats for it at santapod bug jam a few year back so itll have to be based around those colours lol... any ideas??
