Hi all, hope this is the right area to post my question. I have an Eland MIG 130 which must be several decades old (I bought it secondhand in 1998!) and still seems to work OK. However, on using it recently I find that the wire feed seems a bit unreliable, and results either in the wire sticking to the nozzle, or to the shroud. Is this most likely to be due to the fact that the wire is very old (>20 years)? Or more likely due to poor technique, or maybe something else? I'm using 0.6mm wire if that makes a difference, and welding nice clean steel on the bench for this job so it's largely free from contaminants.
I've been MIG welding for about 30 years off and on, though not done a lot in the last 15 or so, so I'm very open to advice on better technique! I am pretty certain a new reel of wire would be a worthwhile move, but thought I'd ask on the forum in case there's something obvious that I haven't considered
Many thanks, Simon
