My BMW 1100GS has done 145,000 miles with no leaks and the original clutch tpp,
I suspect it's the spec of modern rubber and UV degradation. My 1972 R75 spent many years in a shed after the original owner died and the driveshaft boot was still fine.My BMW 1100GS has done 145,000 miles with no leaks and the original clutch tpp,

Luckily they didn't take note of Honda's ST1100 Swingarm design (seen a fair few of these rotten to the point of structural failure).I got talking to a guy at a petrol station with an old BMW flat twin: it was the Brembo radial front disc setup that caught my eye!
Apparently some guy in the States worked out a conversion, but I didn't have time to listen to the details.
I could envisage the frame snapping at the headstock with the power of modern brakes
Anyway... shaft drive? BMW should have asked Honda how to do it properly. I've had 4 shafties from them and never a moment's concern (or leakage ).
My 14-plate passed 30k at the weekend and the '54-plate is just shy of 80k miles.
That is true, and obviously why Honda went over to the cast alloy design.Luckily they didn't take note of Honda's ST1100 Swingarm design (seen a fair few of these rotten to the point of structural failure).
No disk brakes or modern instruments and key, mine is a /5.@Rannsachair
You'll be needing to raise funds for the repairs, so sell me the old /6 ...
( Seems the youngest one in your fleet is the one causing the most grief! )
