Arc welding steel, no good for car work really needs to be 2mm minimum thickness.

I'm thinking this might be a good cheap introduction to welding for me. Play around at home with bits of steel and see how it goes before forking out £400+ for a mig setup

What sort of bigger fan is good to fit then?

Opening the case & fitting a bigger fan would invalidate the guarantee, I would think see how it goes & see if the thermal cutout operates under normal use before doing this.

Ta. Was more thinking to add something externally. Should it suck hot air out of the welder or blow "fresh air" in?

That's a real good deal, I paid best part of £200 for an 140a inverter last year by the time I'd bought leads for it.

I was burning rods with the knob turned to eleven all day with the cheap Parkside and it never overheated once but that was as described earlier, do a run, grind a bit, do a run , curse and swear, grind a bit.. do a run etc.. so for typical home use I reckon the bigger Aldi should be fine.

I read AFTERWARDS that the duty cycle for the 80A Parkside is 10%
