I am rebuilding our Box Trailer over Xmas - its currently sheets of ply (6mm?) but they have pulled from the rivets in several places, rotted in a couple and are generally letting in water. It’s made up of angle sections and is perfect for what we need.
I have already got some sheets of 1mm alu for the 2 rear doors - and am looking for similar for the sides/top. For the doors i am planning to sandwich a piece of 9mm ply between 2 alum sheets to provide something to screw into for attaching storage to the inside of the doors (like my Perfo board from Louts on here).
For the sides - 1mm alu looks reasonable in terms of cost but i am wondering if i should line it with something as well - (a) to reduce dings in the sheets as we load stuff in and (b) for a bit of insulation.
Can anyone suggest a suitable board not too thick that might cut down on the condensation of bare alum and also provide a bit of impact resistance? Thanks!
