Sorry about the triple post as I could not manage to put all the pics on one post on this last pic there is a bar the tensions the pulley.
What I want to know is how does this work think there might be spring or something missing as I cannot work out if it would stop the tension when not needed
The pump is an AC10 managed to get the specs of this from compair and it is listed a 10cfm but this is with a 3hp motor. Not sure if you can make out in the pics the motor is a 8hp Honda G80 so would you say it is a lot more than 10cfm.
When I got this from eBay it never run I have since managed to get it running coil and points where bait knackered.
I do have the pull start which is fine but have took it off and using a drill instead much much better.
So far I think it is a beast and it must be more than 10cfm (more like 25-30) as it put 50bar into a 127 litre in about a minute, then a problem as I had put the normal plastic pipe from the compressor to tank but the outlet got so hot from pump to tank it expanded and blew off, whoops.

Looks like a Selarc one because they used to make them in red, regarding the CFM, it all depends on what rpm the compressor pump is spun at. I cant see the governor on it that should be connected to the pipe that runs down from the suction valve unloaders on the head, as that is what stops it pumping when it reaches its cut out pressure. Looks like someone has rigged up a jockey wheel to help starting.

DO NOT RUN THIS AS IT IS IT WILL KILL SOMEONE !!! with that size engine it will just keep making air, up to a ridiculous pressure
I have got one these ac10's exactly the same but with an electric motor, but your pipe off the head is not going into the reservoir it will blow any plastic pipe off it should have a coil of cooler pipe behind the fan/flywheel,from the head then into the res where it then senses the pressure and unloads it through the unloader valves in the head. the motor just keeps running all day. Good for petrol diesel app. or running off a genny.

Mine has exactly that but you have to be careful if you hold down the thumb screw they carry on producing, I pump my air pig up to a higher pressure by briefly holding it to get it to 180psi make the amps go to about 15 but its ok for a short burst

If I dont convert mine to a diesel engine ( which was the plan), i was thinking of disconnecting the unloader, nearest the fan, so that I could put a pressure switch to then control the stop start and then it could go to 170 psi on a big tank, without overloading the motor.
So what is the pilot valve for the. Is that not relieve the pressure once it reaches 150psi. Is reached this will be going into a tank with a pressure relief valve anyway. Don't get me wrong I want it to be safe. Bear in mind I will be using this for blasting so the air will be used as quick as the pump can produce it judging by the 1hp = 3cfm 8hp would be 24cfm which in blasting terms is nothing
I think I should add In case you was thinking the two galvanised pipes will be joined together for mobile use this would link the U shape res that is underneath
And for static use the pipe will be linked to a tank with a blowoff valve fitted tank is rated to 16 bar was thinking 10 bar cutoff so well within tanks limits
Can alway put a prv into the pipework

But it senses the pressure from the the u shape res so if it is not going into it,if you just run from the pipe off the head directly into your big res. it can't 'see' the pressure it is building up!and stop it making air.
The feed for the regulator is the thin pipe from the u shaped res.
It wants the proper cooler pipe connecting back up then fill the big tank from the u shaped res.
That way the thing is safe both mobile or static dosnt matter that it is used for blasting there are a lot of dead people whos last words were 'oh I will remember to shut it off'!!

How do you think the two steel pipes where joined original as that was how it was when I bought it.
so I join the two steel pipes together yeah to complete the mobile system.
not sure what you mean about the copper cooling pipe connected back up, do you think some previous owner has took something of.
shall I take picture underneath so you can see how the pipework goes in and out of this pilot valve.
For sure I want it save, and I want the full 8hp from the motor as I know I am going to need it
See the pipe coming out of the head would be going into the external tank then returning to the vertical pipe that is connected to the U shaped res underneath which intern to through the silver cylinder and onto the air outlets on the unit, can even have an outlet of my external tank.
