Cheap from china compressor inlet muffler / filters?

My biggest worry with cheapo air filters is that the could collapse and the bits get sucked into the compressor.

I don't want to spend loads, but I'm sure I could stretch to a bit more than £1.80 if there is another item that comes more recommended?

I've dealt with that ebay shop and beware that the parts sent can vary from the picture.

I needed a new tank non-return valve for my compressor & the one he sent had the wrong fitting for the pump connection. He was very helpful & offered to replace it but I chose to use the fitting he sent and instead replace the flimsy aluminium pipe on the compressor with some heavier copper tube and compression fittings.

I suspect that they have a depot in the uk as the parts arrived very quickly & the return address is in England.

I have used that Ebay shop; Assist electric UK/Sellerbible for quite a few things over the last 5 years and have never had a problem with a single item I have purchased from them.

My current workshop compressor is a Rhyas 50 litre vee twin 14cfm, which I get on extremely well with for my bit of QAD enamel spraying and plasma cutting. However I did catch my leg on one of the flimsy original plastic air filters and snapped it off. So I had a bit of a search around and bought one pair of these 1/2" BSP metal body filters with changeable element including 6 spare elements. I did however also have to purchase a pair of 3/8" male to 1/2" BSP female adaptor.

Almost two years on and one pair of elements replaced (and another pair due to be replaced next month) I have absolutely no complaint, in fact these inlet filters have made my compressor quieter to run.

What about a car air filter box from a scrapyard? That's what's planned for my new ( old ) compressor when I get round to commissioning it. The old locker airmaze fliters are shot to bits & I'm not keen on fitting anything with a smaller filter area.

I see no problem with that - the filtering is more than adequate and the CFM figure for a small car engine far exceeds a typical small to medium compressor. I have an old Metro filter housing I might look at using, but I'd want to ideally use something that could be cleaned and re-used. Otoh, the paper element should last for absolutely years.
