Spring mech above..
Adj bolts underneath base.. Above..
Friend was throwing out
(deserves 5 yrs jail) this makita angle grinder saying it no longer worked.. I fixed it easily costing £5 and offered it back to him.. No thanks he said my works have already supplied a new one... Fair enough!
As I have a couple already I've converted it into a bench cutter.. .. The base is 8mm steel scrap.. I made up a 3 mm thick support spring to fit under the handle to take any flex out of it.. 3mm x 30mm strap mounted where the handle normally fits, this acts as an opposing spring tensioned by a coach bolt at the rear..
Underneath the front I've fitted a little cross plate with holes drilled half way through from the underside.. I've then threaded 3 bolts through the base and into the cross plate so I can adjust the blades squareness and tilt it should I need.. These are locked off when adj achieved.. All treads are wire locked where ness and locknuts and locktite everywhere else..
Bit of tig in the base and a couple of welded nuts too..
I've tried it out and it's great.. Now I've to mount it in my bench in such a way that only the top half of blade shows, fit a guard and rout out some slots in workbench to make guide ways for the steel etc.. Will make the worktop accessible so changing blade and adj etc is easy.. Will then wire it up to a spur switch on top of beach so no fiddling with plugs etc..
