Drawing a sprocket on cad

Can any of you genius's out there give me any help/tips/direction on how to draw a 520 pitch 55 Tooth sprocket to get lasercut ? its for a chain drive buggy im building.

I would be very lucky or it would take forever to find a aftermarket or motorcycle sprocket that suits. Really its the teeth that are the problem, anyway im sure someone will be able to point me in the right direction

Custom sprockets are not that expensive. If you can specify the hub diameter, number and PCD of the fixing holes, number and pitch of the teeth then that's all you need.

There was a program someone wrote to output a dxf of a sprocket, I
think it was linked to on a post on cnc zone and there is a program called sprocket maker, well something like that.

If you want to CAD it, i guess it depends on what program you are using. I used solidworks a fair bit and some catia, on those you can make 1 tooth and then repeat the pattern about a central axis. You tell it how many times you want it repeated, and that it should be circular about said axis and it should just do it for you.

In AutoCAD the Array function would do the same thing, but first you'd have to create the profile of one tooth... that's the tricky bit!

Christ i am always surprised at the number of responses and also the quality i get from my silly questions on here, Its actually one of the few things you can rely on these days. Cheers guys.
Pete custom sprockets could possibly be a very good option for me, I will certainly look into that.

Yeh i mainly use draftsight and it is fairly simple to do an array of any kind. I am just unsure of the exact dimensions of each tooth for the specific Pitch. Hmm Google might know hes a brainy chap

You are not joking mate that's great, I started using the page Scotty pointed out and got a tooth drawn, Cheers scotty but the program norm linked is fantastic, 30 seconds and i have a blank sprocket to my spec ready to pimp how i please, Cheers guys Very happy boy tonight
