Fish tank frame

A mild steel job for a change, frame for a large fish tank.

All cut up and mitred on the little bandsaw, 80 x 40 and 40 x 40 box section
Fabbing it up, home made corner jigs keep it square and make a nice third hand when working alone

Jobs bigger than the bench but a bit of plate and a couple of clamps overcomes that,

Same corner jigs used for setting up the legs,

A coat of paint and its done, the wheels are just temporary to enable me to move it around without damaging the paint, photographed indoors cos its persisting down with rain.

Those corner clamps look quite usefull. I made a similar sized table for the garden and fitted with an old granite work top.

How would you keep it all square without the clamps, particularly when setting out the legs ?

Just clamp it to a bench or flat plate use a square then get a couple of tacks on it, for the legs most of the time fabricators will just hold the section against a square and tack it, then give it a clonk (technical term) with a hammer to finally square it.
Get as much of it tacked up as is possible before finally welding, thinking about how it will pull as the welds shrink.

Quality job Paul.Wont even flinch with the tank on it,

Tank weighs about a tonne full so I'm told, its going to be clad on the outside so most of it wont be seen.

Bloody nor that will easy hold a 1000l tank, i was going to use the same box for my 1800l tank. Should be sweet when its done.

Old school memory coming back a little, one cubic foot of water is almost 62.5 lbs. Hope there is a good floor under it.

reason i stopped the build on mine as it is concrete but suspended and did not look good underneath the floor. shame
