My recently purchased Colchester Bantam ( B.1971, S/N AA7430 ) has Gamet dual dial on both the cross slide and the compound slide. In stripping and cleaning up the lathe after it had been sitting for years in a farmer's shed under a thick coat of engine oil and then topped off with dust, hay, chicken poo etc, I'm up to the cross slide. The cross slide dial turns out to have a damaged nylon gear, and the little brass (?) gear is missing altogether. The steel dial gear ( that sits on top of the nylon one ) has the drive pin broken, so it spins freely.
The first picture is the dial assembled ready to go onto the small extension piece that fits to the front of the cross slide. You can see on the extension piece, there is a small brass stud at the front, this is where the brass gear that is missing should be.
The second picture is the damaged nylon gear, which mates up to the missing brass gear.
Any idea where I could get the missing brass gear, and another nylon gear?
With the brass gear missing, would the dial only be reading accurately in metric or imperial?
