My 1987 vintage SIP Migmate 100 torch has failed. The problem is with the torch, where the brass ferule that is crimped over the threaded section of the swan neck has loosened, allowing arcing between the two. I've been able to make a number of 'running repairs' to crimp it back on, but I think its now had it!
SIP have been very helpful but can only offer a whole new torch and cable assemly for about £100. I've seen ones on EBay for about £40, but they only seem to have a single electric cable and spade connector, whereas mine has two.
I'd be grateful for advice on either repairing my torch (I'm wondering if I could solder the ferule to a tube thats a tight fit over the swan neck??) Or if there are any replacement torch assemblies that will fit.
After having rebuilt my Triumph Spitfire with it and now being half way through doing my son's MG TF cills, I'd rather not have to buy a new MIG!
Thanks in advance for any help
