Hiya,
I'm new to the welding world and I'm currently doing a college project designing a frame with lifting lugs, I'm having trouble trying to find the minimum thickness of materiel required to weld the lifting lugs.
I have RUD lifting lugs which have a weld size of HV 5 + a3 ('a' throat size) and volume of 1.2cm3, the documentation states the 'welds should only be designed as continuous fillet welds'. I've looked at some British Standards for details but unable to find the minimum material thickness required for welding.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
