Marcos Chassis querry

Hi,

Have spent some time replacing lots of rails on my Marcos Chassis and have just about finished apart from one small section. The main inner chassis rail where it meets the upper inner rails i dont want to replace however as you can see from the zoomed in photo the last inch is showing signs of corrosion although it is solid.
Would i be best in cutting out the last couple of inches one side of the tube at a time making and welding in replacements strips to eventuallty make up a square piece again or rub back to bare metal and weld in metal sections on top for added strength ?

Any advise is greatly appreciated, i do intend to keep this car for many years so want to get it right,

Wow, you've been busy there. Looks like most of the chassis is new!

The detail in the second photo doesn't look bad to me, though it's difficult to tell from the photos how good or bad it is. Looks like thick surface rust the sandblaster didn't blast for long enough.

If it were thin or pin holed I would probably be inclined to replace it. Otherwise I'd not - paint will protect it and prevent further rust.
