Maypole Turbo Mig 140 Torch Help Please

Hey All,

I`ve had this maypole turbo mig 140 (made by Telwin) in the workshop for years, its time to sort it out and find out if its going to work or not.

It needs a liner, tip and shroud before I can test it. I need some help with the torch if possible, I have a sip migmate 130 and a cebora pocket mig 130 too and neither torch is even slightly similar to the maypole.

Where the neck leaves the handle, it curves round and forward in brass, quite slim and has a male thread on the end. Where the others have a thicker neck and the shroud either unscrews or pushes off to reveal a female thread for the tip.

Foolishly I didn`t get a pic before I came home, but I`ll post one up tomorrow.

I`ve had a go at googling the maypole and it doesn't bring up much, I also searched mig torch types and I couldn`t match any of the mages to what I`ve got.

Any help would be great.

Maybe if you try googling "hobby mig torch" hopfuly there is something there.

I do recall seeing on this forum others as about a shroud that is threaded rather than the usual spring to retain it, think that's what you mean. Sure there were some Clarke ones (early) that used that type.

Thanks Mike, having a look, no positive matches yet, I did find a reference to telwin being the same as some sealey models, I`ve had this one laying around for 8-10 years and was a good few years old when I got it.

The control knob looks the same as the Ferm welders that Screwfix used to sell

It sounds like you are missing something like this tip adapter / gas defuser http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIG-EURO-...IPS-BINZEL-COMPATIBLE-M2503-x-2-/201130851897
(the far end has a thread that would screw onto a male thread) BUT this is for a much bigger torch than I would have thought was fitted to your machine.
I did see a post the other day with a link to an ebay item of a "replacement torch complete" for less that £25 ! It was for "hobby type machines" They are usually >£50.
Is the Maypole you have a NoGas only machine ?

What ever fits on there has to let the gas pass around the outside of the tip (if it is a gas type mig)

A quick google suggests Ferm were telwin made too and the pics that came up of a 105a had quite a few similarities.

Its a gas machine, it seems quite nice, with integrated wheels and bottle holder on the back for a decent size bottle.
