Hi most my welding will be sheet metal but I’ve a few projects that will be 8mm thick! My old sealey welder is 130 amp and my new inverter welder is 200 ampDepends, power is your only limiting factor with mig so if you don’t have a 500amp mig and you’ve only got a 300amp stick you can do a lot more with the stick set.
So yeah it just depends… how thick you talking?
Thanks I’ve got 2.5 stick electrode for my 200 amp welder ! Only project I got is making a welding table which the top plate is 8mm thick but the square legs are thinner metal
Cool thanks for replyingShould be ok to run up to 4mm rods with that , thats not going to be an issue on 8mm plate. I tried 4mm rods at 200amps on some 20mm plate and reckoned that was about the limit.
